All 3 Of Jeff Ruby's Restaurants Named To Best In Cincinnati List

Restaurant writers are expected to have lists of "bests" at the ready, preferably ranked and ruthlessly rated. After a couple of decades of eating out in Cincinnati, reviewing and writing about restaurants, I do believe that some restaurants are better than others. But I don't think that means one is the best of all. But the urge to list persists, as does the urge to help people find somewhere they'll like to eat. So, what I've made here is my favorite 14 of the best Cincinnati restaurants.   I have selected this list from the local restaurants that hit the high-quality mark. These are not just options for home meal replacement. They are full service, offer a wine list and cocktails, take reservations and serve a varied menu. (We'll need another list for my favorite pizza joints, chili parlors, no-reservation hipster haunts, strip-mall Chinese and...

Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse Aims to Up the Entertainment Value with Lexington Location

March 21, 2019 The restaurant business is no big thing. It’s thousands of little things, and all of those little things—each one of them—have to be addressed,” said restaurateur Jeff Ruby. “And then things change all the time—they get redesigned, or at least I do. I keep reinventing myself. I keep re-evaluating what I’ve done, and I say, ‘you know what, I think I’ve got a better idea than that other idea.’” Dressed in a Kentucky-blue sequined blazer decorated with symbols of the state, wearing a black fedora and smoking one of his signature cigars—his hand adorned with a diamond-encrusted University of Kentucky basketball championship ring—Ruby is seated on the patio of Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Cincinnati, discussing his namesake restaurant brand’s most-recent location in Lexington, whi...

Jeff Ruby Prepping For Grand Opening In Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Despite years of setbacks, failed financing and frustration, Lexington’s City Center is taking shape. One of the first to sign on when it was Centre Pointe, has kept its commitment and is almost ready to open its doors for what’s billed as more than a restaurant…it’s the Jeff Ruby experience. Ruby first developed his brand in Cincinnati, Ohio, and expanded to four other cities. But one market remained elusive. “I’ve wanted to do Lexington more than any other city, I’ve never been as excited as I am,” Ruby said. As the first big name to say yes to Dudley Webb’s vision of Centre Pointe, the company had to exercise patience and set aside some pride to endure delay after delay, and resist the urge at times to call it quits. “As much as I love Dudley and I love Lexington, this was a challenge...

Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse Named To Food Network Top 50 List

Though the decor and menus vary from coast to coast, from Western-style steakhouses to old-school Midwest supper clubs to big-city temples of haute beef, these are the best places to sate your carnivore cravings and enjoy a side of local flair. **** Restaurateur Jeff Ruby once said, "People don't come here because they're hungry. They can go to the refrigerator for that. Our guests come here to celebrate life." That mantra has pervaded Ruby's namesake steakhouse, which counts locations in both Columbus and Cincinnati (as well as three in Kentucky and Tennessee), with a high-end experience that combines prime steaks, seafood and sushi, live nightly entertainment and impeccable service.
