Jeff Ruby's Sponsored Jockey Wins Pegasus World Cup Aboard Arrogate

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Just after Arrogate came over to the paddock at Gulfstream Park on Thursday afternoon for a schooling session for the Pegasus World Cup on Saturday, trainer Bob Baffert spoke briefly with jockey Mike Smith. As they parted, Baffert called to Smith, "Just don't [mess] it up." Baffert knew. He knew that despite all the rainy weather he had to navigate in Southern California, he had Arrogate, as he said earlier in the week, "super cherry" for the richest race ever run.

Travel + Leisure rates Precinct Among America's Best

CINCINNATI -- An East Side steakhouse makes the cut as one of America's best, according to Travel + Leisure. Jeff Ruby's Precinct, which opened in 1981 in an old police station, is consistently rated one of Cincinnati's finest restaurants. "A 19th-century Brunswick bar, reclaimed saloon doors, and vintage barber chairs set the stage for USDA prime steaks topped with sauces like béarnaise, brandy cream, and mushroom bordelaise and served with house-made bread, salad, and baked potatoes -- plus tableside fettuccine Alfredo and bananas foster," the review says. Should you care to add some travel to your leisure, the top 30 list includes: Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse in New Orleans, Peter Luger in New York, St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis and House of Prime Rib in San Francisco. It's the second time Travel + Leisure has ranked The Precinct among Ameri...

Jeff Ruby To Donate Thanksgiving Turkeys To Police In Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -  Jeff Ruby and his family distributed 55 free turkeys to Hamilton County sheriff's deputies who patrol the Anderson Township area. The restaurateur and longtime law enforcement supporter and victim's advocate said the gesture was his way of thanking the deputies for their service.

Luxury You Can Sink Your Teeth Into

....And you’ll feel so grown up at Jeff Ruby’s, the super-swanky steakhouse that opened this summer on the ground floor of the UBS building, situated on Fourth Avenue North at Union. On a mild October evening, its doors open onto a dining terrace where guests sip cocktails and take in the sounds of its piano bar.  Step inside the grand entry and marvel at the glittering swirl of giant chandeliers, the sweep of plush rose banquettes, the ornate dark woods, the art-deco style murals. As you are escorted to your table, your eyes are drawn to the raw bar, an enticing and elaborate display of seafood — oysters, jumbo tiger shrimp and Alaskan red king crab legs jutting out of the ice. Keep looking: There’s a sushi bar, too, where its masters craft lavish rolls.

Happy Hour At Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse

Last night I was invited to attend a blogger happy hour event at the new Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in downtown Nashville. I was excited at the opportunity since I had already heard so many great things about the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant; so naturally I jumped at the chance to visit (even though it was our 2nd wedding anniversary). Since the event was right at the end of my work day, I figured “why not?” and stopped by for an hour. I am so glad that I did.

Making Bank In An Old Bank Downtown

If you didn’t know that Jeff Ruby is a real guy who launched an eponymous steakhouse, you might think that Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse is some sort of Disney creation. The fedora-wearing restaurateur travels between his various restaurant properties in a custom-wrapped luxury bus, a rolling billboard for his brand of high-end dining and excellent customer service. The details of the restaurants' decor seem impossibly over-the-top unless you’ve met Ruby himself and realize that he actually is larger than life. This is the man who gained national attention for banning O.J. Simpson from his Louisville steakhouse during Derby Week, landing himself and his brand on every network’s news and morning shows.
